Every fragrance composition present in a cosmetic formula (perfumes, essential oils, flavors…) must comply with cosmetic regulations, but not only. In fact, all fragrances present in cosmetic products must also comply with the latest IFRA amendment.
But what is IFRA?

Cosmetic products have been regulated by Regulation (EC) n°1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of November 30, 2009 on cosmetic products since July 11, 2013, known as the “Cosmetics Regulation”.

Natural or “organic” cosmetics contain varying proportions of natural and/or “organic” ingredients.

On December 29, 2022, the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022, or MOCRA, was passed into law. The changes brought about by MOCRA constitute the first statutory modification of the FDA’s powers over cosmetics since 1938.
